Business Professionals Find More Than Guns While Networking

What does the Business Professionals of Greater Harrisburg and Central PA have in common with guns and a gorgeous meeting space? If you attended the November 19, 2014, mixer, you know the answer – Trop Elite Equipment in Elizabethtown, PA.

Trop Elite Equipment hosted the November mixer in their second-floor event space, “The Club.” Karen Diehl, Club Liaison, and Luis Bermudez, Creative Director, briefed attendees on the history of The Club, gave a tour of The Club and the store, and explained the many amenities The Club offers as part of its rental packages, such as:

  • Private entrance
  • Cigar deck
  • Shower facilities
  • Bar area, cozy seating areas, gas fireplace
  • Separate conference room
  • Professional reception area

Looking for an innovative team-building event? Karen suggested The Club’s team-building firearms package, which includes a free gun familiarization class and time on the indoor firing range.

Attendees who arrived early to the mixer tried Trop’s indoor range for free. My husband took advantage of this offer as you can see in this short video. I loved The Club’s layout, flow, and décor. The banquettes and intimate seating areas lend themselves to great conversations. When I mentioned that I’d love to teach line dancing on the hardwood floor in front of the fireplace Karen and I realized we shared a passion for country line dancing and recognized each other from dancing at the same country bar. My husband says I can go anywhere and find someone I know.

Being the social vixen that I am, I enjoyed reacquainting myself with folks I had met at the June mixer and making new contacts. And it was a boost to my confidence to introduce myself and my new consulting business, Jennifer Nauss Conway (JNC) HR Communications & More, rather than giving the 30-second “I’m unemployed and need a job” elevator speech.

Among the attendees benefiting from the mixer’s networking opportunities were:

“Trop’s was a great venue with a very nice indoor shooting range and excellent retail store for firearms and equipment. Thanks to Karen and Luis for hosting November’s group mixer!”

There is still time to register (as long as you are reading this before the event) for the next mixer on Wednesday, December 3, 2014, from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. at Reiki by Ricki. Interested in hosting a 2015 mixer at your business? Contact David Bruno.

Nothin’ But a Good Time

Not sure why, but this song just popped into my head, so with a shout out to Central PA’s very own Brett Michaels and Rikki Rockett, enjoy these photos from the mixer.

My Review/Final Thoughts

The mixer at Trop’s marks another successful Business Professionals of Greater Harrisburg and Central PA networking event. Thanks to David Bruno for putting them together.

The Business Professionals of Greater Harrisburg and Central PA events continue to be a good investment of my time. I challenge my LinkedIn Connections who are members of this group to attend at least one mixer in the next three months.

My original strategy for successfully attending networking events continues to hold true. Find a role for yourself. Gathering info for the blog and taking photos once again allowed me to chat with everyone without being pushy, a conversation hog, or feeling stalkerish.

I seriously loved the event space at The Club. The possibilities are endless … hosting bachelorette parties, family reunions, small wedding receptions, business, club, or association meetings, entertaining clients … or teaching country line dancing.

I need to commit to a new title for my role in my new business. Chief Sarcasm Office is probably not appropriate.

Folks asked me where I was in the photos from the June mixer. Since I was taking the photos, I wasn’t in any. This time, I took a selfie. That’s me in the graphic promoting this blog entry.

Until next time!

This is great! Thanks again Jenn for taking the time to do this, taking great photos, and writing up such an excellent blog. And thanks again to Karen & Luis @ Trop Elite for hosting/sponsoring our November Mixer. Would love to have it there again in 2015!
